A: Once you buy it, register yourself as a Benz owner on their site. www.mbusa.com Go to the owners online area. You will need the VIN number of your vehicle. Once on owners online, you will have access to the owners manual, it comes in PDF format, so be ready to download it an print it, you can also just look through it. Good Luck.
Q: I have a problem with the locks on my Mercedes Benz ML 320?
When I lock the car the lock on the front passenger door starts locking and unlocking rapidly. It stops after a few seconds. This happens when I use the lock in the car and when I use the remote. Any idea why it's doing this?
A: There's no real cure other than replacing the lock actuator. The inner mechanism parts are made from plastic and they break apart. The fault is common to both MLs and E-class vehicles

A: The MlL has a bad mechanical reputation, it is ugly, boring and gas guzzler; E class is a better choice; you didn't mention the model year for the E-class, the generation started in 2003 with SOHC and 3 valves/ cylinder, which didn't live to MB reputation and reliability; in 2006 E-class was fitted with 3.5L with DOHC and 4 valves/ cylinder, which is a marvel, so you may want to take this point into account and Look for E350 instead, good luck.

A: Absolutely.
All MLs are wired for the Nav, regardless of whether that particular car had one.
You can get all the orginal MB parts you need from a dealer or various online sources -- just search OEM Mercedes parts.
It will involve a little work, but should be plug and play. You also will have integration with the steering wheel functions.
You may need a new dash piece to accomodate the double DIN unit that the Nav takes up if the non-Nav is a single DIN unit (not sure on the ML how it comes stock).
I still would consider a Pioneeer AVIC series as well. It is a much better unit, and cost wise it should be a wash.

Could anybody tell me step by step how to replace the window switch located in the center console? I have no idea how to remove the center console?
I took my car for service, and one of the questions of the mechanic was: How are your window switches? and up to then they were fine, and after that mysteriously they failed?
Please if any body knows how to replace then please tell me, I won't pay those thieves for doing more damage on my car

A: I am not tring to sound mean here, but I work as a Mercedes-Benz technician and although I can't say the dealer you take your vehicle to is honest or not, I can definately say that window switches on 1998-2002 commonly fail. It will be a situation where the window will either go down and not up, or up but not down and its normally the drivers switch that fails as its the most used. I know for a fact that they should charge .5 or .7 labor hours to replace those switches. That isn't much money in labor. I would guess that its somewhere between 50-70 dollars in labor and either way you will have to pay for the switches. I really don't like that fact that you insist on calling them thieves when they are just stating a known fact as a tech. I would take it there so atleast the job will be done right. It's up to you.
Q: Why can't an automatic car starter be installed on a Mercedes Benz ML 320?
I'm in the process of buying a used Mercedes benz ml 320 from a local dealer. I was just talking to someone that installs car starters and I was told that you can NOT install one on a Mercedes Benz.Why is that? Is that true and if yes why???
A: When you start a ML, the key is first recognized by the immobilizer sensor and then the signal is routed through the AAM ( all activity module ) to engage the starter. Both of those systems would have to be bypassed for a remote starter to start the vehicle. Unless someone has a very thorough knowledge of how a Benz is wired and how all the control units communicate with each other ( to the point of being a designing engineer with Benz ), installing a remote starter is impossible. Attempting to install a starter will likely make a huge mess of the vehicle electronics which may very well costs thousands to fix.

I would like to know for the 2006 to 2008 models.
A: As stated by previous posters...the Mercedes did away with the third row in the ML when the vehicle was redesigned for the 2006 model year. They did this because they introduced the R class, which came with a third row, in the same model year. Benz then offered the GL class, which is essentially a larger ML, with the third row. If the ML offered 3rd row seating, it would hurt the sales of the other two classes.

2000 and below and above models, mercedes benz ml question, is it really true that this car really has a lot of bugs in the system, electronically and it is not a very reliable car, please advice before i make a mistake of buying a 2000 ML430, because there are a lot on the net that is about the car and its problems. pls advice. thanks.
A: I personally would not recommend purchasing that year model because in my OPINION, cheap materials are used on the vehicle. Most common areas cosmetically will be the interior A-pillars panels material will be separating, center console compartment cover will be billowing the exterior D-pillar black panels will be cracked to name a few. Mechanically, one of the power steering hoses is faulty so it has a 10 year warranty on it, window switches go bad and high probability of electrical issues with stop lamp switch & crank position sensor.
If you make the purchase, I strongly recommend a good extended warranty contract because you are vulnerable to a lot of repairs needed due to the age of the vehicle.
It is a Mercedes-Benz, which is a high line vehicle, which means high cost repairs.
The newer model style ML would be a better purchase because they improved the quality and it is less problematic.
