Q: Which would you choose, the Fiesta or Cruze?
I am deciding on my very first brand new car. I have narrowed down my search to either the 2011 Ford Fiesta hatchback or the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze sedan. I realize that these two cars aren't exactly in the same class, but the Fiesta is cheaper and has better gas mileage, while the Cruze has a more roomy interior and a slightly quicker engine. Both come with great standard features. Which one would you choose and why?
A: To the above: the Chevy Cruze is still just a rebadged Daewoo Lacetti Premiere. That's the name they've given the car for the Korean market and one of the sole reasons why I wouldn't buy a Cruze.
The Fiesta on the other hand is German engineered and a very, very good overall package. It's nimble, light, has a very good chassis and the engine choices are both torquey and frugal.
Q: Which car should we get?
I have a 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, that's getting ready to die. It hasn't been that reliable as of late and I'm not interested in keeping the car anymore due to it's maintenance, bad gas mileage and high insurance. I have a 3 year old daughter, so I'm looking for a more economical, family friendly car. Me and my husband saved up and we want to spend 15k on a newer car. We want something newer with good safety features since we have a daughter now.
I don't know much about cars. My husband suggested we get a 2007-2008 Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla. My husband has a 1995 Honda Civic that he has been driving since he was 18 and it has been very reliable. He does the regular maintenance of the car and the car keeps going. He didn't want to get a newer one for himself because he said he doesn't want to waste money on a newer car for himself when his runs perfectly.
My husband however said Chevrolet Cruze is also worth a look. My husband is pretty good with cars and he said Chevrolet Cruze is the only American compact car that's worth a look. We checked it out at a dealer and we love it's safety features like 10 standart airbags. We were thinking of spending more money(we do have the money) and getting the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. My husband said it can probably last 10 years without major problems.
We have been doing a re-search on the safest cars and we got Volvos and Volkswagens as a answer. People also have been telling us these are the safest cars. The problem is Volvo is out of our price range and according to my husbands Volkswagens are extremely unreliable.
We are confused on what car to get. What would you suggest? Our wish list:
1) Reliable
2) Very safe(traction/stability control,at least 6 airbags)
3) Around 30 mpg city fuel economy
You're suggesting a Nissan Versa? I said a very safe car, not death trap. http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/cars-trucks/Nissan_Versa/
A: For the situation like yours,I would like to suggest you have a look here www.Autoinsurancepro.info ,you should find something useful.
Q: Is it cheaper to insure your child under your insurance even if they have thier own car?
Is it cheaper on your child to insure them under your insurance even if they have their own car?
We have leased a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze for our 18 year old daughter and after researching some rates that were as high as $500 per month, we thought it might be cheaper to insure her under our current policy as an additional vehicle. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
This is in the state of TN, and the lease and vehicle will be in my daughters name, we're just making the payments on everything. She is a student at a college less than 50 miles away. She does live there however, and only comes home once or twice a month.
She is very grateful. This is her first car, as she was made to wait until 18 to get her license and are only allowing her to have a car because she has proven she is responsible enough to do so. She has a job and is willing to pay insurance and gas. However, some of the quotes she had gotten were extremely high and above what she could afford. We are looking into ways to save money on the insurance so that she can afford to pay it. I'm really proud of her, because she has done all the research and car searching herself and not relied on us for anything other than the lease payment. I'm also not worried about her not paying us for her insurance, because that would be really out of character for her.
A: There are upsides and downsides to adding your daughter to your insurance.
The upside is that the insurance rate will probably be less over all as she probably be benefiting from any discounts you get already like multi-car insurance.
The potential downsides are:
1) Since she will be on your insurance if you or here has an accident, it will/can impact both you and your daughter's "accident-free" period. This happened to me on my family's "3rd" vehicle when my brother and I were both co-primary drivers on it. He hit another car and was at fault and it ruined my accident free rating. This was many years ago and things may have changed but it's something to look into.
2) Check about liability. If you're co-named on the policy even if the lease is her name, you might be liable in lawsuit. I'd ask your insurance agent about that.
You might check to see if insurance is cheaper if the car is registered where she goes to college. My college was 3.5 hours away and the insurance on my college car (granted it wasn't new car - over 10 years old) was significantly cheaper when I registered the car as my college address. I just had to make sure to do a change of address during the summer and when I went back to school, no big deal.
Also check to see if the insurance companies have "good student" discounts and some (at least in California) have a teen driver safety discount. State Farm has such a thing where the teen goes to the agent's office, watches a video, and does some other stuff.

Q: How to approach my parents about buying a car?
Right now it's holiday savings in town and I want to buy the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze LS+ . It costs $18,000 . There is up to $10,000 in savings for this event. I get a guaranteed $1500 off for the car and another $500 as a Student program as I am still in high school. I am 15 years old.
I go for my license in exactly one month and with this going on, I don't have to pay a monthly for the first three months, which is great as I don't need a job until after April, when all my extra-curriculars end for the year and I can focus on only school and a job. I am not a spoiled brat. I have paid for pretty much everything in my life and I do not mind that. I just need to get the idea to my parents that I would appreciate a car as I can just drive myself to my activities and they can spend more time at home instead of stressing, since my younger sister is as busy as I am.
I have a 93% average at the moment and never has anything ruined my academics so far. Plus I'm in SADD which says a lot about me and my morals.
How can I approach them without looking desperate or needy? How can I sit down with them and talk it over and seem mature?
Thanks to those who answer! :)
I actually have a very good bank account from all my summer jobs and it is a really good amount. I do have enough for a $1000 down payment and enough for the first year of monthly payments. Plus I have worked two straight weeks to pay off a $3000 Europe group travel I'm going to with my school and still have enough for $1000 for spending money when I go.
So for those who don't think I will have enough, try to think again. I am that hard of a worker.
A: From what you've posted it looks like you already have the ability to do this. While I think your math is off due to false advertising by dealerships, you may find something that works for you.
You can just sit down with them at dinner, make a presentation, or just casually ask them about how to go about buying a car.
Good luck.
Q: Best car to buy........?
I'm looking for a "mommy" car but I also want a nice pretty car. I was thinking about this http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.automobilebox.com/wp-content/gallery/chevrolet/chevrolet_cruze_2011_1.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.automobilebox.com/tag/chevrolet-cruze/&usg=__Y4gHYwuO7CU48Is2qx7mKdeGzxE=&h=782&w=1280&sz=495&hl=en&start=45&zoom=1&tbnid=b7nk50SZX8GRBM:&tbnh=91&tbnw=149&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dchevolate%2Bcruze%26hl%3Den%26biw%3D1020%26bih%3D548%26gbv%3D2%26tbs%3Disch:1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=188&ei=DlC3TN2rIYy6sQOzqcySCQ&oei=90-3TNzMCoW8lQffx-G7DA&esq=4&page=4&ndsp=15&ved=1t:429,r:5,s:45&tx=125&ty=60 is that a good mommy car?
Any suggestions?

Q: 2011 Hyundai Accent vs 2010 Mazda 3?
I know this doesn't seem like a fair comparison but I would appreciate any input. I am buying my first brand new car and I am a recent university graduate so I don't have a load of money.
I live in Ontario, Canada. The 2011 Accent GL would come to 18600 with their current cash credit and hst included. Hyundai is offering 0% financing on 72 mo's which make my payments $260 / mo. Hyundai also has a 5 yr bumper to bumper and 5 yr powertrain warranty. Also the 5.5L per 100 km is attractive.
The 2010 Mazda 3 is by far a more appealing car imo. However, it is a year older and would come to 23100 hst in and has 0.2 % financing over 72 mos and would make my payments $316 / mo. Mazda only offers a 3yr warranty included in the price and isn't as appealing on gas.
I also considered the Nissan versa and Chevrolet Cruze but their financing is quite high.
I plan to have this car for years so any input would be great :)
A: Chevrolet Cruze is a nice car and i have one and love it.. i considered the mozda 3 speed but it was alot more $ i got the cruze fully loaded for 24k and its awsome and probibly worth the extra cash compared to the accent. even though hyundai has made there cars better, they still are no mach for mazda or chevy... ohh by the way i work at a hyundai dealer! nobody thaqt works here drives a hyundai! only the managers but they have too.. think about it. everybod had nissan, toyota, honda or american made. if you go somewhere and the ppl selling it dont have faith in it! also the residual value (how well it holds its value) is really bad on hyundai. if you plan on keeping the car for a while plan on doing some head work to the motor around 60k miles. and make sure if you go with the accent, to doo all work to it at a hyundai dealer. if not it could void the warranty of the car and ur stuck with a two year old car with 60k miles and a 3000 dollor debt on the car. most ppl lease them because then you get rid of it after 3 years.. but you could probibly find a used 2010 wit 20k miles for around $11000. (that will show you how well a car holds its value) goodluck
Q: What kind of car should I buy?
I'm 16, almost 17, and I've had my car for a while. It's a 2004 VW Beetle and it's a piece of CRAP. It breaks down constantly, and my dad is sick of paying for expensive repairs. He said he would buy me a new car spring/summer 2011. I have a few cars in mind, but it would be nice to have some other opinions. Looks and gas mileage are important, and I've already looked at
-Mini Cooper
-Nissan Cube
-Honda Element
-Chevrolet Cruze
Also, I don't want to spend more than about $20K.
Thanks :)
*I'm not buying used
A: If you're interested in the Honda Element or the Nissan Cube you owe it to yourself to look at a second generation Scion xB, or any Scion for that matter. The xB2 is big on the inside, small on the outside, has a good balance of performance and economy, is comfortable, fun to drive, reliable, well equipped including all the usual goodies plus ABS, VSC, anti-lock brakes and airbags all around, and has lots of available TRD and aftermarket stuff...all for under $20K. Scion's pure pricing policy (or whatever they call it) makes buying a more pleasant experience and Scions are an amazing value with lots of bang for the buck.
