Q: how much does it cost to ship a small suv from arizona to new jersey in winter months?
I am purchasing a small SUV (BMW x3) which I am going to be shipping to new jersey. I plan to have the back seats folded down and boxes with personal items in the car (ie. clothing, dvd's, kitchen items, etc.). What can I expect to pay if I ship in January 2011 and is there a better time to ship in the winter months? First hand knowledge (and not something from a website) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

A: If this gives you any idea, I had an Explorer shipped on a truck from Chicago to Spokane for about 900 dollars. It was protected in an enclosed truck. Check with major moving companies. They can usually point you in the right direction. Be careful of Uhaul. There are many vehicles that they won't let you tow. Mine was one of them.

Q: What car should i get?
Hi we are looking for a new car (automatic no manual) and below i will give you my preferences and what i have test driven. and no i dont have to have all my preferences met but are listed most important to least. thanks: PREFERENCES: under $22,000 mid size suv or maybe minivan, no sedans, coupes, or trucks under 50,000 miles No V8, V6 yes, 4 cyl eh only if it has some power no older than MY 2007 good MPG, preferably around 18/23 or higher power seats 4x4 or AWD garage opener dvd for kids might be nice leather is something i could care less about i like leather and cloth equally TEST DRIVES: 2007 equinox: 1/10 felt really cheap no features very uncomfortable 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7L: 7/10 felt sooo nice and fully loaded except navi but its a gas hog horrible MPG and only a 2006 2004 BMW X3: 7.5/10 it was nice to try a BMW it was very nice and rode as good as the jeep but too many miles and too old but great price. Probably cant afford maintenance or parts 2010 Nissan Rogue: 3/10 omg it was so horrible it was loud, hard to see out back, felt so crappy and idk jsut didnt like anything about it. 2009 Ford Escape XLT: 4/10 i really hated this too the transmission or something sounded aweful sounded so crappy and interior felt crappy. 2007 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer: 4.5/10 tried another ford to see if it was just that escape but no all fords sound that crappy. 4 of the points are from the cool folding guard rail lol. 2007 Nissan Murano: 8/10 nice color, good on gas, rode really nice, still had some warranty, but not too many features and ONLY $16000! 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee: 7.5/10 nicest ride out of all test drives and sunroof/some features but horrible MPG and color wasnt too great but it was the smoothest of all the test drives 2011 Jeep Patriot NEW: 5/10 it was ok but im not spending $26k for something that only gets a 4.5/10 for me. no features really and ride wasnt as good as grand cherokee 2007 Honda CR-v: 6/10 it was somewhat loaded with features but I could feel every bump and front seats were uncomfortable and still no power seats even though it was EX-L!!! 2008 Honda Pilot: 7/10 it was pretty smooth probably second best/smoothest ride quality (2008 jeep is first, murano is tied for second) but no features really and MPG is ok. So from all of these please give me some good options. also, im interested in Mercury Mariner but will that be just as crappy as ford escape? and no kias or hyundais they are all POS thanks:) yes they are POS and they dont look that great either no im not doing carmax they bump up the price and dont give any good warranties or anything they are crap no mazdas i looked at a cx7 or whatever that new suv they have is and it was so ugly and cheap looking mazdas have a horrible name.

A: look at the mileage too, you dont want somethin with a whole lot of miles. I'd go through carmax if I were you, you can use their search to fin the criteria you want. I am glad you dont want a hyundai mine is a POS and I have to take out 5 parts for the extra inch to get the part I need out. It makes every repair a pain. I believe Nissans have a pretty good name and so do toyotas.

Q: As a 27 y.o, am I on the right financial track?
How would you rate my financial situation? I'm a 27 y.o working professional with the following financial portfolio: Savings high interest - $70,000 Own and Renting out a condo (have equity on condo and will pay off the condo in 5 yrs) - current tenant is paying 2/3rd of the mortgage per month Own and Paid off my BMW X3 No Credit card debt 401k - $38,000 (Contribute ONLY up to employer match. Reasoning - I don't like leaving my money in my 401k because I want liquid funds. There's way too many hoops to jump through to pull out the money. I plan on contributing more when I get to my 30s, but for now...steady contribution of 6% only) No Roth - Same reasoning as 401k - Don't want to invest too much for something that I won't see or touch till I'm in my 60s. Some people don't even make it till that age...why bank on it? No stock Short future goal - Buy a Florida townhome ($120,000) in 2011 and pay with cash. No mortgage then and no interest. Let me know if there's any financial advise you want to give so I can improve my financial situation. The tenant is only paying 2/3 of the mortgage since my mortgage is a 15 year fixed. Hence, the payment is much higher. I'm covering the 1/3 which includes HOA. I have approximately $60,000 in equity on the property. Have $130,000 left on the mortgage.

A: Seems like you've got nearly all your bases covered. The 6% 401k contribution is plenty, especially if your employer is matching that amount. The only hole you've yet to fill is long term financial security. A ROTH is an excellent tool for that. Why NOT contribute to it if you have all your monthly expenses covered easily. Plus the contributions are tax deductible-- up to a point. What happens if you live until you're 80 or 90+. You'll needs funds to cover your expenses for those years. Rationalizing by saying "some people don't live that long" is poor financial planning. If you really don't want to contribute to a ROTH, consider a high yield dividend mutual fund. The dividends get reinvested and act like compound interest. Over many years you can build up some serious wealth without a lot of continued out of pocket investing.
