Q: how far can a 2010 toyota prius go without an oil change?
I was supposed to get an oil change at 23,934 miles, which I just now reached 20 minutes ago and the maintenance light began to shine. But I've been neglecting to do that, since it is very close to the holidays and I've been busy with that this entire time. The dealership doesn't reopen until the day after Christmas, and I've yet to call and make an appointment anyway. How far can a 2010 Toyota Prius go without an oil change before the engine kills itself?
A: you should change your oil at 3000 to 4000 miles or 3 to 4 months depending on the oil
Q: What is lowest price on a 2010 Toyota Prius?
I'm thinking about buying a car want to get an opinon on how low a price I can get on the entry-level 2010 Toyota Prius.
A: About 20 grand depending on the dealer but don't buy one.
Most people buying a hybrid are assuming they will be the least expensive vehicle to operate but that is totally untrue. Yes they are very good on fuel mileage BUT you have to consider ALL costs, not fuel alone. When including all costs over a three year period no hybrid including the Prius even makes the top ten list of most economical cars as can be seen here:
http://autos.yahoo.com/articles/autos_content_landing_pages/1442/cheap-dates-the-10-least-expensive-cars-to-own/
The Chevy will be the most reliable on that list followed by the Smart car.
So if your plan is to save money on operating costs then choose one of the top ten most economical cars form the list and avoid all hybrids sense not even one of them made the top ten list.
Q: Can I put the battery form a 2010 Toyota Prius into a 2007 Toyota Prius?
ok i have bought a 2007 Toyota Prius but dont seem to get much out of the battery so I wounderd if I buy a new 2010 model battery will it work ok in the 2007 model ? i do know there were some slight improvements in the 2010 model battery but will this harm my 2007 ?
A: As long as the hybrid system is not giving you the Triangle Of Death the battery is okay. The hybrid system uses it as it sees fit, not the way we might expect. As long as the hybrid warning triangle is not on all batteries will produce identical performance.
I have never heard of a second generation traction battery failing. They are quite a bit improved over the first generation, which still lasts around 200k miles on the average, and should never give you trouble.
Q: What is the tank size for the 2010 Toyota Prius?
I dont need your opinion on the car, its for a school project.
Thanks.
A: 11.9 gallons.
Q: Would you get a 2010 Toyota Prius anyway?
My friend has been talking about getting one for a long time, and now that they've been recalling them, I don't think it's such a good idea.
What do you think?
A: I wouldn't own one of those regardless of the recalls. Ugly!
Q: I bought a 2010 Toyota Prius because I was told it was not under recall... do I have a good case?
I purchased a 2010 Toyota Prius in late April 2010. I told the dealer I was only interested in cars not associated with the recall and he reiterated that the 2010 Prius had no recall associated with it whatsoever. I made the purchase, fully assured this car didn't have any recall issues.
When I scheduled my first maintenance check yesterday, the service dept. told me this car had a recall - which shocked me. I looked it up on toyota.com/recall and my car has a ABS system recall issued on Feb. 8. It says letters would be sent to all owners with such a recall and I've had my car for 3 months and not received any letter about it.
So basically, the dealer lied to me about the car not having a recall when it did to make the sale. Now I've driven it for 5,000 miles, put myself and friends in danger, nearly rear-ended a car once due to brakes responding slowly, in a car I was clear to the dealer I would not have bought in the first place had I known about a recall. And they did not tell me it was under recall till I called maintenance about the check up. It seems as though he intentionally lied about the car in order to make the sale.
I'm considering sue-ing because 1. Toyota should have told me about the recall proactively, before I made the purchase but did not, and 2. I asked them specifically about the recall and they lied to me, knowing if they told the truth I would not have bought the car. I can't find anything online that says Toyota is legally obligated to tell me at the point of purchase that the car is under recall though - is that true?
What do you think about my case for suing them? I'm more pissed about being defrauded by the dealer and want to sue based more on principle than for $. Yeah, I made a mistake in trusting the dealer. I knew the hugely publicized recall (8 million cars) didn't include the 2010 Prius and didn't know about the one from this Feb. I should have looked that up. But yeah, I'll be damned if I ever buy from Toyota again.
When I say "Toyota" in the question, I mean the Toyota dealership that sold me this car, not the company overall.
A: The dealer is independent of Toyota. If the dealer does what's in the dealer agreement (which consists mostly of paying the bills, using Toyota approved advertising, and keeping a certain amount of parts based on purchases) they have almost no other control. So you might sue the dealer but suing Toyota because of the dealer's misrepresentation will get you nowhere.
All car manufacturers have recalls from time to time. The manufacturer sends a letter to the owner and you take it in to get it fixed. If you didn't get a letter, then there is a problem. Car manufacturers also maintain a hotline you can call to find out if there are any recalls. The government maintains a web site as well.
Q: When will the 2010 Toyota Prius come out?
I want to know like the month and the date (ex. April 27th) I was thinking about buying this car but I kinda need a car fast so I want to know when this awesome car comes out!!!
A: I haven't heard an exact date, but Toyota did announce a few months ago the 2010 Prius will go on sale middle of May this year (arriving at the dealerships).
Q: Should he go ahead and get a 2010 Toyota Prius anyway?
My friend has been talking about getting one for a long time, and now that they've been recalling them, I don't think it's such a good idea.
What do you think? Do you think he should get it, wait or not get it?
I told him it isn't a good idea, but he's still undecided.
I think people will make fun of him when he drives a new one. lol
A: The people on here who tell you its ok to buy it and that the recalls are all media hype obviously work in some form at Toyota. Their job depends on you buying their faulty vehicles and do not have you or your friends best interest. How do they know it is a fixed problem when the head of Toyota himself doesn't even know the problem is fixed. Be smart and good luck.
Q: It's late May - when will the 2010 Toyota Prius be sold?
Any dates?
Also, where can I find a list of the different packages? Are those out yet?
If not, the place on Toyota's site where I will be able to find them would be great.
A: From what we have been told, there should be one 2010 Prius allocated to be delivered to each dealership nationwide arriving the last week of May to first week of June. After the initial vehicle is delivered, allocations will be based upon sales of the previous generation Prius.
As to Packages, there are no longer any packages. There are initially going to be 4 models (encompassing the packages rather than one model with different packages) being Prius II, III, IV, V. In about 3 mos, there will be introduced a Prius I which will have a few less features than the Prius II.
Hope this helps.

Q: I'm getting a 2010 Toyota Prius. Should I get it in Blizzard Pearl or Black?
Which color looks better?
A: Blizzard Pearl. the whole point of a prius is to save money, and blizzard pearl will keep the car cooler, making you run the AC less, saving money. also, black need more maintenance
Q: I am about to buy a 2010 Toyota Prius. The dealer is trying to get me to buy an extended warranty. Should I?
Any idea? And $1800 sounds like it is a little too much for this!
A: If nothing else: Understand that the price of the extended warranty is negotiable, just like the price of the car. The top-of-the-line extended warranty that is backed by Toyota (don't waste your money on any non-Toyota warranty) can be purchased for just under $1,000, even though the "sticker price" is $1,800. Do a little web searching and you should be able to find it from a few different sources. If your dealer won't match that price, tell them you'll buy the warranty elsewhere.
Also: You have until 36 months or 36,000 miles (whichever comes first) to buy the warranty. Don't let the dealer's Finance & Insurance guy con you into believing that you have to buy it before you drive the car off of their lot.
Whether you actually buy the warranty or not is your own judgment call. Even sold at below $1,000, the dealer and Toyota are still making a profit...
P.S., The battery doesn't cost $10K to replace! Very few of them fail (in OR out of warranty) and even then, the cost is more like $3K or $4K, labor included. If the car is bought in a state that follows California's emission regulations, the battery has a full (not pro-rated) warranty for 10 years or 150,000 miles. Other states, 8 years / 100,000 miles. Either way, it's unlikely to fail at mile #150,001 or year #11.
Q: 2010 Toyota Prius questions please help?
i have a couple of question about the 2010 toyota prius
please no rude answers
thanks in advance
1.does the prius go slow?
i heard that it goes really slow even when you push the brake really hard is that true?
2.how many mph does it go?
like what is the fastest it goes?
3.is it hard to drive in the rain or snow especially uphill?
where i live it rains alot so i want to know if that will be a problem!
4.overall is it a good car?
5.is the 2010 ford fusion better than it?
thanks in advance ppl!!
A: 1. Huh? When you push the brake really hard, the car stops really quickly. Just like any other car with good brakes. If you mean "does it go really slow when you're not pushing on any pedals," yes it will -- if the transmission is in gear -- just like any other automatic transmission car. So if you leave the car in "drive" you'd better have your foot on the brake when you're sitting at a stop sign!
2. Top speed is electronically limited to a little over 100MPH. Hopefully you'll have little need to see it go that fast.
3. Rain, snow, uphill -- same as most any other front wheel drive car. Uphill in snow, from a full stop, can be tricky if you don't have appropriate snow tires or chains: If one drive wheel loses traction and starts to spin, the car will stop sending power to both drive wheels.
4. Great car. Check "Consumer Reports" and see that a larger percentage of Prius owners would buy the same car again, compared to owners of any other car -- and that's during the entire time that Consumer Reports has been asking that question. (Caveat: I haven't double-checked to see if that's still true or not, it was accurate a few years ago.)
5. The 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid is a different car, so whether it's "better" or not is dependent on your preferences and your needs. It is roomier and more powerful, it's a USA car (if that matters to you), it's a sedan instead of a hatchback. It also gets better mileage than any other midsize sedan in the USA but the Prius gets about 25% better mileage than the Fusion.
By the way: Volkswagen fans always like to say that VW's get mileage that's "just as good as the Prius." Uh, no. Gasoline VWs get mileage in the low 30's compared to the Prius' high 40's (and many VWs need premium gas, while the Prius takes regular). Diesel VWs get low 40's, which is closer; but Diesel is usually more expensive per gallon than gasoline, so that's not an advantage. See the reference in the "sources" below to see the actual numbers for yourself.
Q: What Artists are Played in the 2010 Toyota Prius "Harmony" Commercial?
Okay, so here's a link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tq4nrmnqY9o
Some of the words are:
There's a reason
For the sunshine sky
There's a reason
Why I'm feeling so high
Could be the seasons

Haha, I love how it sounds! Is it an actual song? If so, who is the artist/song title?
A: Try the "search for questions" box at the top of the screen. It would have given you the answer immediately, and saved you from the obnoxious spam answer that you received prior to this one. (Edit: Hooray, it looks like someone at Yahoo is awake and pulled the spam answer down.)
Yes it's an actual song. "Let Your Love Flow" from the Bellamy Brothers, originally recorded about 35 years ago. Yup. 35 years.
