Q: Where is the interior "auto" light switch for the 2010 Ford Escape?
We just got a 2010 Ford Escape yesterday and we cant seem to figure out how to get the interior lights to come on when a door opens, and Ive tried looking in the manual but cant seem to figure it out. Can anybody help please?

A: There should be a 3-position switch on the interior lamp itself. You will have to try it because I can't remember the position for auto lights.

Q: How much is a 2010 Ford Escape?

A: You know Ford has a website right? But figure about 21k for a base 2WD I4 model to well over $35k for loaded hybrid AWD model. You can probably get a decent deal on a leftover 2010 model now though as the 2011 models are arriving.

Q: how to turn on/turn off Overdrive in a 2010 Ford Escape Limited?
it says in the owners manual that it can be turned on and turned off, but I don't see a switch or button marked O/D anywhere, i'm just wondering if it is on or not? there is one button on the gear shifter but that for the grade assist any help is greatly appreciated

A: Hi Mike, The default on your transmission is that Overdrive is ON when ever you start the vehicle. And that means that it automatically shifts through all 6 gears. To turn the Overdrive OFF, press the little button for grade assist. That will lock out Overdrive gears. See page 225 of your Owners Guide

Q: 2010 Ford Escape question.?
I recently purchased a new Escape ( 2010). I love it, however one annoying feature I don't care for is the engine shuts off when you open any door( from the outside, after using the remote start). I am wondering if this can be over ridden. A friend of mine has a 2009 Escape with no such feature.

A: As far as I know a factory remote start is a dealer installed option. The tech could have installed it wrong. The other thing is if you have an after market remote start you will have to go to a shop that installs your brand. Either way somebody made a mistake in the installation.

Q: Would you pay $24,500.00 for a 2010 Ford Escape Limited base model with 22,000 miles on it?

A: i wouldint becuzz 24k is alot for having 22k miles on it for 24k cash you should get it new. al tho 22k miles it not that much at all 8k more miles and you got your first oil change think bout it :)

Q: 2010 Ford Escape Limited "Low Fuel Warning"/Reserve Question?
Hey, My Escape is equipped with a info center that gives me information on things "Avg Liters per 100km" and "Km to E (Empty)" among the usual stuff like Trip A and B and and Odometer Reading I had a question regarding the "KM to Empty" feature, I like it because I have 2 different ways to gauge what my fuel level is (instead of just the regular "Full to Empty" fuel gauge) but I wonder if they actually contradict each other or are actually taking the same reading at the moment, My Needle on my first gauge (E to F) is reading just above the red mark for Empty and just below the 1/8 mark and my second gauge is reading "55 km to Empty" and the fuel light is ON Now i've never ran it down this far before and starting wondering, is my second gauge reading how far I can go (given the amount of fuel left in the tank) until the engine cuts out OR is it calculating how far I can go until I am on the reserve portion of my tank I've checked my owners manual and it doesn't say anything about whether I would then be on reserve or what happens when the second gauge reads "0km to Empty" Would I then be on reserve AFTER the needle on my first gauge is on the red mark for empty and the second gauge reading "0km to Empty" Can someone help me out, I don't plan on making this a habit, I just picked this vehicle up about 2 weeks ago and I would just like to know in case of emergency Thanks a bunch!

A: They both read the same thing in different ways. The normal gas gauge just tells the amount of gas in the tank. The km to E one calculates how far you can go while getting your current mileage with the current amount of gas left in the tank. Its bad for your car to run it dry so they leave a little extra as a reserve. Some people if the car says they have 55km to E will try to drive 55km. In reality you have around 1 gallon left when it gets to 0km to E.

Q: 2010 Ford Escape overdrive?
If light is on on the dash that means overdrive is on right? And have factory v-6 emblems for vehicle that were left of at factory. What is the placement of these. I know one on each side and one in back but exact placement I'd like to know.

A: Other way around - If the light is ON, the OD is OFF. The normal condition of the vehicle is OD ON.

Q: How Can I Disable the "4x4 system" on my 2010 Ford Escape V6 Limited?
I kinda dislike the fact that the 4x4 system on the new escapes are all automatic now i.e previous models you were able to turn it on/off via a knob in the dash don't get me wrong, I love 4x4 option, just only when I need it lol, I rarely do any city driving (mostly just highway) but the odd time I will and it hurts my gas, i would like to be able to turn it only when I need, not when the computer "thinks" it should be on I've heard of people taking out the fuse for the 4WD system to disable it and just putting it back in when they need it just not for my exact model though... just wondering if this is something that can be done and the big question is - would it work? thanks I dont want to get rid of the 4x4, i love having the option and I do have uses for it (I go skiing in areas where roads are not cleared in a timely manner for example) i'd like to be able to "hook it back up" so to speak when I do need it, but if i'm doing a majority of city driving i want to be able to "turn it back off" thanks for the tip, but I've already looked over the manual before coming on here, there's no mention of a switch or knob anywhere I've read online that pulling the fuse can usually do the trick, I'm just wondering if I'll be doing any damage if I were to leave the fuse out and then just pop it back in when say the weather turns sour

A: mmmm well the only opion I would think of is trase these wire harness that leads to the transfer case snip the ground or power wire and lead it to a switch to control it but it might throw a light to come on when its off and might cause other problems. I know this might be pricey but if you want it done bad id talk to a machanic from Ford.

Q: How much can you barter on a brand new car?
I'm currently on the market to buy a 2010 Ford Escape or a 2010 Holden Captiva, both of these cars are on the market for approx $28 to $30,000. Before i go in and start haggling with a dealer, i'd like to know if and how much i'd be able to bring that price down. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

A: at most 2000. but if the car has been sitting on the dealer's lot. you can go lower.

Q: How come I don't get all of the channels available on Sirius radio?
I just bought a 2010 Ford Escape and it comes with 6 months free Sirius radio. I printed out all of the channels available from Sirius's website. As I was presetting the stations I was not able to go past channel 194. I still have some presets available and a few more channels I want to preset. My vehicle allows me to preset 30 channels and I have 6 channels & preset buttons left but can't tune past channel 194.

A: Depending on the subscription plan you have, you may not be able to get the rest of the channels. Some radios come with an additional plan option (Best Of XM) which gives you additional channels. By the sounds of it, you only have Sirius everything.

Q: To those who have owned both, how do you compare your Toyota/Honda to your Ford/Chevy?
I have owned both in the past (currently own a 2010 Ford Escape). I bought the truck because my wife and I needed a larger vehicle for the next few years, however after owning it for only 6 months, and it being back to the dealer 2 times already, I can already say with confidence that I will never buy another Ford again. My other car was a 1995 Toyota Celica that I bought with 125k miles. By the time I sold it 3 years later with 175k miles I had changed the radiator and the flex-pipe. (Both had become rusty which is expected after 15 years in the north-east). What are your takes? Which do you prefer?

A: Over the years, since 1960, I've owned a LOT of cars. Mostly Chevrolets until they went FWD on most everything. I routinely ran them for 150,000 to 200,000 miles before unloading them. I NOW buy only Toyotas, with the exception of a 2010 Honda minivan my wife wanted. (I don't care for it, personally. It uses too much gas and burns oil) Bottom line? A GM or Ford vehicle can last as long as a Japanese car with good care, but the things like water pumps, alternators, batteries, wheel bearings, etc always wear out quicker on American cars. My Toyota Tundra, 120,000 miles, I've put in one set of plugs and changed the front brakes (once) Still the original battery, rear brakes, and everything else. my wife's Camry, 115,000 miles, have changed only the battery and a wheel bearing. nothing else. You can go a LOT more miles without a breakdown in a Japanese car. That's fact, based on 50 years of driving and owning, not just an opinion handed down from my father. Some of the people on this site are RABID foreign car haters who obviously have no sense. I just smile and ignore them. I KNOW what I know from experience.

Q: strap stuck in trunk and it wont open?
I have a 2010 ford escape and a strap got stuck in the trunk latch and now it won't open does anyone know how to fix this problem How do you unbolt the latch

A: Try sitting on the trunk while turning the key. This will take the pressure off of the latch and it should open.

Q: MSRP Which is the truth?
I've been doing some research. How come the MSRP on the manufactures is one price. The Kelly Blue Book MSRP is another price. And the dealer is another. (Example) 2010 Ford Escape. On the FORD website the MSRP is 20,515. On the Kelly Bluebook site the MSRP is 24,235. On a local dealership the MSRP is 26,215. Who's telling the truth? The manufacturer can't be suggesting ALL of them can they? I don't get it. Can anyone explain how it works?

A: Here's why. the Kelly website has the MSRP excluding two charges all dealers pay - freight and ad pool. Freight is the charge a dealer pays to get the vehicle from the factory to his showroom. You should see a line item entry on the MSRP sticker for that amount. Ad pool - this is an advertising fund all dealers pay into. Ad Pool pays for all that nice, high-production advertising you see on TV, Magazines, radio etc. Wheneer you hear "See your local Ford dealer..." that commercial was paid for from Ad Pool money. It will not be on the window sticker, but it is on the dealer invoice and added to the base MSRP. Since KBB does not know what the freight and ad pool fees are for every geographic area, those charges are not calculated into their figures. If you are able to view the dealer's invoice, you will see them on there. As to the Ford MSRP, that is likely before options are added, and those 2 charges for ad pool and freight. So this is why you see three different figures. The MSRP on the window sticker in your local dealership is the one for that car. regardless of what other place tell you it might be, should be, or once was - that is the current price for the car you are looking at.

Q: I need help on a car to buy?
I am looking at the Ford Fusion, and the Ford Escape. Any thoughts on which one I should buy? I test drove the 2010 Fusion and I liked it. Its a little smaller than the car I have now but overall it was a nice drive. Then I noticed the 2010 Ford Escape and I really like the look of it. I hear the Escape drove like a truck though, but I am still going to test drive it. Does anyone have an advice on which car I should buy or if anyone has the Fusion or Escape? Thanks!!

A: You also should compare car insurance quotes for cars before buying one, for example here - carinsurance.yoll.net

Q: Used Car insurance cost?
If i buy a 2010 ford escape used will insurance be any cheaper than if i buy it new, considering im 25 and have a clean driving record

A: Several methods you may think about.Like call your local insurance agent or do some researches on the internet, you should get the idea.
